Magnolia's Own Fall Festivals Share the Calendar With Ren Fest This Year

What happens when Magnolia's first city-run fall festival falls on the same Saturday as the Texas Renaissance Festival's Heroes and Villains weekend? On November 7, residents will find out. The Chamber's Fall Fest lands on the festival's All Hallows Eve weekend a week earlier. In 2026, nearly every in-town fall event in Magnolia sits inside the festival's season, and much of it runs during the hours when festival traffic is heaviest.

That changes how a fall weekend here works. The festival's schedule is now the planning grid for the town's own events. The roads are shared, the peak hours overlap, and one road closure is still open through the first two festival weekends.

Two calendars on one set of dates

The Texas Renaissance Festival runs weekends from October 10 through November 29, plus Thanksgiving Friday. Community Impact called this the festival's 52nd season. Each weekend has a theme, and Magnolia's own events fit between them like this:

Dates Festival theme In Magnolia that weekend
Oct 10–11 Oktoberfest Smith St. closure extension still in effect
Oct 17–18 1001 Dreams Smith St. closure extension still in effect
Oct 24–25 Pirate Adventure
Oct 31–Nov 1 All Hallows Eve Chamber Fall Fest, Magnolia Event Center, Oct 31, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Nov 7–8 Heroes and Villains City's First Annual Fall Festival, Unity Park, Nov 7, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Nov 14–15 Barbarian Invasion
Nov 21–22 Highland Fling
Nov 27–29 Celtic Christmas, three days
Dec 5 Season closed Chamber Parade of Lights, Unity Park, 5:30 p.m.

The Southwest Montgomery County Chamber's Fall Fest is free. It's at Magnolia Event Center, 11659 FM 1488, and the Chamber lists trick-or-treating, a costume contest, children's crafts and face painting, pumpkin-patch photos, and an artisan market. The City's festival is at Unity Park, 19450 Unity Park Dr. One local event listing describes it as free, with more than 60 vendors, food, games, and a dunk tank featuring city council members.

The festival's clock runs both events

Sharing a date matters less than sharing the hours. The festival says most guests arrive between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Gates open at 9 a.m., and parking opens earlier. Festival staff monitor traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day the festival is open, and they post updates on the festival's Facebook and Instagram pages.

Compare that with Magnolia's two fall events. The Chamber Fall Fest runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which covers the festival's entire peak arrival window. The City's Unity Park festival runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., which starts an hour before the surge and ends two hours after it.

The other end of the festival day matters too. The festival suggests staying for the Royal Fireworks at 8 p.m. so guests miss the traffic of people leaving before sundown. For anyone in Magnolia, that means festival traffic comes in two waves. Arrivals peak around midday, and departures run into the evening after the fireworks. A 10 a.m. start at Unity Park on November 7 beats the midday wave. A 3 p.m. exit from Magnolia Event Center on October 31 comes after it.

Which roads carry which crowd

The festival's directions show that festival traffic doesn't stay on one road through Magnolia.

From greater Houston, the festival points drivers up SH 249 to the FM 1774/Plantersville exit, then 2 miles south on FM 1774 to the entrance. Those guests park in the north lot by way of County Road 302. Anyone coming from Magnolia on FM 1774 is sent to the south lot instead. Guests from The Woodlands are given another route, FM 1488 to FM 1774. So festival traffic can use both of Magnolia's main corridors on any open weekend.

FM 1488 is still under construction. In March 2026, the Houston Chronicle reported that TxDOT's $48 million raised-median project expected a traffic switch that weekend to open four lanes, two in each direction, from Magnolia Ridge to Mill Creek Road, with the full project expected to finish in mid-2027. The same report put completion of a separate FM 1488 widening, from FM 1774 to FM 149, in mid-2027 as well. That schedule runs through this entire festival season.

Two summer closures are finished. The city's notice closed the northbound FM 1774 intersection at FM 1488 from August 1 to August 16 for pavement work. A TxDOT closure at FM 1488 and Smith Street ran from August 18 to September 1. One closure is still in effect. On September 28, the city posted an extension of the Smith Street closure, running September 25 through October 23. That covers the Oktoberfest and 1001 Dreams weekends. The city's notice page doesn't name a cross street or a detour, so check the city's news page before relying on a route that uses Smith Street.

The festival also warns about rerouting apps. When traffic backs up, it says, Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze may suggest residential or side roads that are closed to festival traffic, and law enforcement may turn drivers around. That warning is written for festival guests. It also means local side roads may be controlled on festival days.

What actually changed at the festival in 2026

The festival's biggest documented change this year is parking. The 2026 season introduces Premium Parking, the closest parking to the entrance, which replaces the valet parking of past years. Drivers park themselves in designated areas. Capacity is limited and filled in order of arrival, kiosks stop selling Premium Parking at 4 p.m. or when the lots are full, and festival admission isn't included. Handicap parking is still free, and shuttle service costs extra.

The ticket side has one addition. The festival announced a Vet Tix partnership, with tickets going live on that platform August 31 while supplies last. It also offers a gate discount for eligible military members, veterans, first responders, and essential workers. As of early October, the festival's "What's New" page mentions only its new website and says new entertainment or shops may be announced later. Anyone hoping for a headline attraction should check that page again closer to opening weekend.

Staying close on a festival Saturday

On weekends when the festival is open, these local spots each posted current information online this fall. They're grouped by corridor because that decides how close to festival traffic a stop is.

On FM 1774

  • Crazy Train Food Truck Park, 38925 FM 1774, offers food trucks, live music, painting events, and cornhole, plus weekday trivia, D&D, and bingo. Its website lists two different sets of hours, so call ahead.
  • The Meating Place BBQ, 41902 FM 1774, takes online orders and can be reached at (281) 259-6328. Ordering ahead makes sense on a road that festival traffic uses.

On FM 1488

  • RND Rustics, 11721 FM 1488, is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Six Shooter Junction, 17645 FM 1488, posted new arrivals on its storefront at the start of October. Its listed weekday hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Off the main corridors

  • Sakura Bistro, 13774 Jordan Lewis Way, Suite 500, is open daily 11 a.m.–9 p.m. and can be reached at (346) 301-4117.

Both FM 1488 shops are on the same corridor as Magnolia Event Center. That makes them easy to pair with the Chamber Fall Fest on October 31 if you're already on that side of town. Sakura Bistro's daily 11 a.m. opening lines up with the City festival's midday hours on November 7.

The first weekend after the festival closes

The festival's season ends with Celtic Christmas, a three-day weekend from November 27 to November 29. The following Saturday, December 5, the Chamber holds its "The Magic of Christmas" Parade of Lights at Unity Park at 5:30 p.m. This year's theme is "North Pole Radio." It's the first major town event of the season that doesn't share a weekend with the festival. With the evening start, the parade also falls well outside the 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. window when the festival monitors traffic.
